RSS stands for Really Simple Summary of techniques used by the virtual world community to gather and unify content from a Web page. An RSS file presents a summary of information about the headlines, links, and article from a website.

Currently RSS is one of the most popular technology or the most widely used in the Internet world. With RSS we can get the information that we need it and always up to date. Now that RSS has been widely used in applications weblogs, knowledge management networks and news syndication.


History RSS
On December 96 Ramanathan Guha of Apple proposes a project with the name Project Sauce / X with the format MCF (Meta Content Framework) which is the initial idea to process the metadata. MCF is an open format to present information about the content. Dave Winner is the first user of this MCF, but this is still in doubt.
In 1997, Microsoft and Netscape to submit a proposal to the W3C. Microsoft submitted a proposal on the Channel Definition Format (CDF), while Netscape with the Meta Content Framework using XML. MCF using XML from Netscape is the origin of RSS. In the same year published a draft of the W3C RDF (Resource Description Framework) to the public. RDF itself is used to process the metadata. RDF is the inspiration of the proposal MCF and PICS. Dave Winner in the same year, also submitted proposals to the W3C with a format similar to the CDF.
March 1999 Netscape launched RSS 0.9 version with the name "DF R S ite S ummary". This version uses XML syntax for RDF and Namespaces. In the same year Netscape collaborate with Userland's RSS 0.91 publishing format with the name "R ich S ite S ummary" and then upgraded by Dave Winner to RSS version 0.92. Version of RSS that is used by Dave Winner include elements from the DTD and userland's. In 2000 the RSS-DEV Working Group issued a RSS 1.0 with the same name which is "DF R S ite S ummary", is the development of RSS 0.9 that uses the RDF syntax is similar to RDF's original concept, and Libby in RSS 0.9. Version RSS 1.0 focuses the use of Modularity / Extensibility RSSnya file. RSS continues to grow rapidly until 2002 with the final version of RSS 2.0. Version RSS 2.0 was named "R eally S imple S ummary".
